What Steve meant was, is it possible for you to import a Q plate car to Spain or does it have to have an age related plate thats older than 25 years?

Q plate is what a lot of kit cars get issued as they are of indeterminate age, ie engine and its major components didnt all come from a single donor and/or aren't brand new.

Cheers Chris.

Here we don't have a Q equivalent or a friendly law for cars that differ from "original" in any way. Kit cars don't exist. If it was a 25+ year registered car where the registered make and model would be something totally unusual in Spain, they will think it's an old unmodified car as long as the V5 doesn't say it's a Ford Cortina, and so I would get tax exemption but much more important is that the inspection for approval of such cars is reasonable (the one for newer cars is plain impossible to get through and the one for cars that have been modified in any way is very tricky as well).

I just took the little Fireblade Locost for a blast this morning just before I sell it (likely next week), it's such a brilliant and addictive car.. so much that I think I'm considering BEC as an option.. AGAIN!! Can't help it, it's just mental to drive these things to 12k rpm, I love it!!

I'm confused and I don't know what to do!!

In case you are wondering how did I manage to get my Locost (actually a Q) registered in Spain, that's because I was exempt from approval because I proved I was relocating from the UK to Spain by the time.. but now it's a different story and I need to plan carefully or I may end up with a car not worth it to get through approval because of the amount of mods needed to comply with current regulations.

In case you are wondering why on earth I'm selling the car to probably buy another BEC, it's because I want a Fury since that will be my only car so it has to have doors and convenient weather protection.

Only I'm so confused about engine choice. I fancy something with enough torque to not think too much about the clutch when going uphill from stopped (to give an example of the most typical nighmare in a BEC). But then I like the high rpms and the clutchless upshifts sooo much. Furybusa? Maybe even the R1 has comfortable torque for this kind of frequent driver? Or will I be happier if I forget the BEC madness altogether and get more reasonable, given the application?

I think I'm taking the car for another blast to find out, can't help it and the weather is brilliant at the moment!!

Cheers,

Alex

FURY V8

ON THE QUESTION OF THE FURY V8, I WAS CONSIDERING BUILDING ONE FROM KIT BUT AFTER VISITING KCW, WHERE THEY HAPPENED TO BE BUILDING ONE FOR A CUSTOMER, I FOUND BECAUSE THE BULK HEAD HAD TO BE MOVED BACK TO GIVE CLEARANCE, I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH ROOM TO DRIVE IT! BUT THEN I,M A FAT B******D (APPROX 95 KG AND 6FT, JUST SOMETHING TO CONSIDER, BEST OF LUCK,(I FINISHED UP BUILDING A VIENTO)

From the seller:

Weight c 700kg (A heavy fury)
Power c 270 - 280bhp

What do you think? Is that the weight you would expect for a car like this or is it particularly heavy for what it is? I thought a Rover V8 would come lighter.

Cheers,

Alex
