this one will get some raised eyebrows......
the best car I have owned - and certainly the most fun to drive, most reliable and best built!
was my Fiat Stilo 2.4 Abarth!!
wonderful car... I miss it  sniff!

1973, black tulip (very dark purple) mini 1000. First car I got to drive regularly (and it was 17 years old when a spotty 17 year old started driving
it) and fabulous - not fast but loads of character.

That would be either
1. '77 Alfasud 1.2ti, bought for £80. Fitted with 1286 ti engine from the scrappy. Dunno what had been done to the engine but it would rev to
7500 rpm happily and could blow away golf gti's, XR3i's etc.
Best handling car I've ever driven.
2. Citroen GSA estate - 1.3 flat four, bought with 100k on the clock for £200. Lovely smooth revvy little engine, fantastic brakes.
Last saw it with 175k on the clock and still going strong.

Has to be my Dolomite sprint. Huge acceleration in it's day and totaly neutral handling. Drifting round big roundabouts steering on the throttle
was a joy. Still miss it.

in order...
1, ford capri 2.8injection, bought brand new by me a spotty faced 18yrs old paid for with my "earnings" from falklands war, paid cash for
it, salesman thought i was dreaming until i showed him the cash, from going into dealers to driving away from showroom = 20 hours.
insurance was £1100 in 1982  
2, MG Montego Turbo, absolute hoon to drive, surprised quite a few more expensive so called performance cars.
i sold the capri then 2 yrs later saw it for sale & bought it back again, loved that car.

Bought it when it was only a year old for far too much money. I remember driving it round france with my new girl friend at the time (she's now
my wife  ) - even drove it round the Monaco circuit
Cost too much money though on the loan repayments, and I had to sell it to afford a house with said GF
Gutted to see it go. I still sometimes wonder about buying another one - difficulty to get them unaltered these days though

Couldn't possibly pick a favourite.
Any car I have ever bought was always 'the only car for me' the day I bought it.
Some didn't keep up that status, some did.
However, if a good picture makes it a good car, it would be.
Either the Locost, the GTM or the Sylva.
I have action pics of all of these.

my lotus carlton no 282 had a superchips 1 bar conversion and made 450hp at 1 bar boost  did a genuine 180mph down the m6 toll road at night ,
clutch pedal got a bit notchy so got rid before it punched a hole in the bellhousing wouldnt have another one but glad i had one for a while

best cars ive owned were 4 door 406 v6 execs. For the money, ridiculously comfy and quick.
Subaru legacy/impreza and nissan sx/zx were more fun, but you dont always want to go fast.

Two favorites for me - an old Mk2 Transit that just went like stink (the speedo needle spent a lot of time over the `p` on the MPH at the bottom of
the speedo...) , and an Alfa 164 - BRG , full black leather , easy 140 mph , bought for just £360
Sadly I went and sold that when the clutch had given up (and I suspect a leaking head gasket..)
Wish I could find another.............

Mine was my Celica gt4 wrc 292bhp and 289ft lb. Never once had a problem and it was always driven hard. Nothing quite like a four wheel drift ;] Only
sold it to fund the start of the Fulcrum, still miss it now.

Series 1 106 Rallye, was such a fun car to drive! Worked near Milton Keynes at the time. Redlining it in every gear towards every roundabout then out
braking and out cornering everyone on the way to work cant be beaten!
Unfourtunately Im having to sell the Indy soon. Should be left with enough money to buy a 205 GTi and put a Mi16 engine in it. 13" steels and F3
slicks should make it a fun track car!

I'm with Dusty on this one, My first car. A Dolomite sprint.
Mine didn't handle well due to the 18 rubber bushes in the rear suspension all being worn, the body roll would settle down about 100yds after
the corner
