another newbie with new build
what are peoples opinions on the chassis i am building, obviously it is in early stages and you can see that i havnt put all the supports in yet, but
wou;ld like peoples advice on strenght etc.
it is ERW 38mm 2.5mm

its going to be similar to the ktm xbow but locost, sorry about the size, i will shrink them down in future

I'm no engineer but I think your chassis need more triangulations.

yes it would if it was finished. it is only half done i am just putting the engine in place so that i can work out where i need the engine mounts in
the hope that i can incorporate them in with the triangulation.
did you understand that cos i confused myself half way thru writing it!

nice piture of my friend Paul.
hes 6ft1 so i thought it would be better having him sat in it than me at only 5ft6

Beware getting angles to acute with the cross bracing, not only does it make it less effective but it makes it a PITA to weld the joint together.
I know this from experience gained the hard way.

are you referring to the cross shape at the back, if so i am still playing about with that so it shouldnt be as acute, thanks for the advice.

Hi, 38mm X 2.5mm I would think that is very heavy 1.5mm would be more than adequate as long as you do not put any bending loads in the middle of your
tubes, and Triangulate with 1mm, Hope that helps Regards DM
