Distributor Identity
Hi,
Can anyone identify this distributor?
It's fitted to a crossflow and has two wires coming out of the side, one red and one black. Should these connect directly to the coil or should
there be a seperate amplifier of some kind?

looks very similar to the one aldon supply, something like an FX103 ??.
are you after parts for it?.

Thanks Ray,
I'm trying to work out how to wire it up. I had thought ignition feed and distributor red wire to coil +ve, distributor black wire to coil -ve.
It came with an "electronic ignition" coil.
I then started wondering if there should be an electronic ignition module somewhere, or whether it is built into the distributor.

does it have points under the cover plate below the rotor arm?

No, I can't remove the black disc, but there are no points underneath. It was fitted to the engine I've just bought and was described as
an electronic distributor.

Hi David,
The black disc and the black and red wires makes me think it's a Lumenition Magnetronic ignition system. Everyting is in the little module in
the distributer, it just replaces the contact points. I don't know how it's wired.

Looks like a Lucas 45D dizzy body. The typical magnetic electronic conversion has only two wires, the red one goes to the positive on the coil and
the black to the negative. The "unit" is basically a hall effect sensor and they seem to work very well.

Thanks, I think you are right about the lucas body. Can I assume then that there is no seperate unit/module?

If you have a 2007 Europa Spares catalogue have a look at page 23. The Lumenition module fits into a standard Lucas distributor.

Looks like magnetronic to me as well. Fitted one in my pinto dizzy. Just the black disc with four magnets in it and a small trigger on the dizzy
baseplate in place of the points. Two wires to the coil as above. No external module.
I seem to remember it used a standard coil, not an electronic one.

Thanks everyone, I've viewed some pictures of the Lumenition Magnetronic and that's definitely the one.
