Nearly there....
Nearly there….The Turquoise Viento
Finally got round to sorting out a bracket to fit the alternator low down on the passenger side ( thanks to Pop browns - www.popbrowns.co.uk ) and
fitted the alternator last night. Just tested it and it seems to work well. The drive belt is a fraction too long but a quick trip to Halfords next
week will sort that out. All that’s left to do now is finish the boot lid and fit one cycle wing. Then trim for SVA. Every thing else seems to work
well.
Need to tune the engine as the plugs are covered in soot. Any one tried the colour tune kits you can get from Halfords – do they work.
SVA over winter and on the road for spring…

Colour tune
I just bought one last week, I was surprised to see it cheaper in halfords than e-bay. Easy to use but probably not brilliant for accurate results. I
used mine on a v8 and one of the carbs was way to rich and you could clearly see this with the colour tune. Not sure if I would buy another one. I
think I would just go by the colour of the plugs in future. I am thinking of installing a lamba sensor and linking it up to some sort of display.

Colortune is OLD technology... but it works surprisingly well. Just tune for the right colour. That tells you the air fuel mix is about right as the
combustion is complete, ie not too weak or rich.
Cheap and will get you tuned quite well for the monetry outlay. ALso better than guess work.
PS my Colortune is at least 25+ years old.

hhhhmmmmm looking great!!
Colour tune? Don't do what I did; faffed around trying to set the correct mixture for too long, eventually the plastic tube that came with the
kit melted, couldn't see anything at all, just went black as the tube slowly collapsed.........what a wally
Cheers

Looking VERY good Paul. Have you got a date for SVA yet, or have you not bitten the bullet of applying yet?.

Not put the SVA forms in yet. plan is to sva it early spring as money is a bit tight at the moment and I am thinking about a change of jobs and a big
pay cut ( but more time for the kiddy ) so it will have to wait until then.
