I used one of those switches (actually a plastic version) in my brake & clutch reservoir - works a treat and dead simple to install.

Just drill a hole in the tank at the desired level and insert the float switch and tighten the nut. Then wire up the switch to a warning light and +ve feed ..... job done. Rescued attachment Float switch.jpg

I've been racking my brains on how to do a level switch for the SVA !! Wanted remote reservoir, but couldn't find a decent one with a float in the lid..!

DOh!.

part number is 431-8406 ,stainless too

the plastic ones are ok , buti wouldn't risk using one in a fuel tank though!

Both Nylon and PPS are fuel resistant so they would be fine to use in a fuel tank and both nitrile and viton seals are fuel resistant, so this one would be fine:

338-9750

Its external mount, so you dont need access to the inside of the tank to fit it either.
