Pinto/Sierra Accelerator linkage + bracket
Anyone got an accelerator linkage which is in reasonable condition kicking about for the standard carb on a sierra?
Need one for my DGAS because it didnt come with one and as I understand it, it uses the same linkage.
One of the ones that looks like this:
There are of course some beer tokens in it for anyone who has got one they want to get rid of.
Cheers,
David

There are two different types of this linkage. Beware, if your using a DGAV/DGAS carb, it needs a different linkage to the standard Sierra carb
linkage. They look the same but are diferent in several ways !
Try looking on the Ford Owners forums, Capri's often had DGAV carbs fitted. HTH

I'll pop in the garage this morning and have a look,i know i have a linkage or parts of one but it may be one where the cable runs from the
wrong side.

Thanks Bob
And thanks for the warning Alan. I assume that there are two, one for the DF series and one for the DG series? They being mirror images of each other,
and so the linkage rotates the wrong way on one of them?
Cheers,
David

No, Ive seen two types where linkage is from the rear. Connecting rod is shorter, and the bracket is completely different !
It took me ages to source the correct one.
My archive I think has a picture of my linkage. Its called BLING

My set up is now as alans in his archive but with less bling my old set up which sent the cable the wrong way(towards near side) is what i used in
the begining and went through SVA.
If its any good to you you are welcome to it for free although in time i'm sure someone will come up with the correct linkage.

Thanks for hunting it out Bob, but would prefer the one like Alans TBH. Might have to take a trip to the scrappies when I get home.
Thanks again,
David

hello,
I've picked up a reasonable 38 DGAS & manifold but it also came without the linkage & bracket. i could do with one like the
'bling' photo. It's on a pinto with the cable running from the normal side. Tried the local scrappies with no luck, has anyone got a
spare ? beer vouchers waiting for a good home...
thanks
Mark

I havent had chance to look around the scrappies yet, and I know a lot of people who banger race old cars, should be able to get one at easter when I
go home. When i find one, I will get 2 if you still need one.

i dont have a spare linkage but same as you David - 38DGAS didnt come with one. i ended up with a std sierra carb brkt and modded it to suit the
38DGAS.
I mounted the carb 180deg to how it would be normally (choke removed). The brkt mounted on the manifold ok with a new fabricated bottom piece, i then
cut and shut the brkt so that the cable fitted in with std clip and the cable ran down directly to the ball at the end. This was a bit of trial and
error to get angle and pull for carb quadrant to work. Hardest part for me to get hold of was the small retainer that holds the cable onto the ball. I
used cable tie at first but it wasnt good.
Ive just uploaded some pics to archive. Hope they help (carb brkt 1 - 8).

So.....I take it my standard carb/linkage is no use to you then? (same as bob's).
Alan, very appropriate use of the word 'Bling' there!
