Standard Bike Dials Or Aftermarket Dials?
Do people prefer the standard bike dash (dials) R1 bike)) or do the after market dash do a better job?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

That would be more of a question than an answer.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

very true, but like answering with a question!
anyway, yeah, the bikes original ones might be easier to set up, but i don't think they make a very nice looking install most of the time (not
every time).
i'd have gauges, but there's more involved in getting them to work.
what do you prefer the look of?
how much work do you want to put in?

Yeah read it just now.
Still not sure, will have to look around the forum abit more and nose at cars at stoneleigh.
Like the simple look of the bike speedo, but you have to add a few gauges dont you?
Also dont the R1 gauge show simple error codes?

The advantage of the bike clocks on the later R1's is the diagnostics run through the dash. The early ones are simple blink codes but the later
injected ones are a lot more; As well as the codes you can read sensor values and fire individual actuators (injectors, coils, etc).
Here's mine...

Thanks for that info.
Pity the later injected engines wont fit.
Need either carb or early injected.

I prefer having the bike clocks
Description
I get accurate speedo, tacho, temp gauge. Shift, indicator, high beam and neutral lights, odometer, 2 trip meters, clock all built in designed to work
with your engine and it's wiring.
The only thing I've added is a oil pressure and fuel gauge.
And I like the look of them.

neither, go for a digidash.
personally i would prefer the look of aftermarket gauges but as mine is mainly a trackday car a digidash is much more practical

I like the functionality of the Digidash - but have you seen the wiring
Also, I've spoken to a few people who've had problems with them.

Wiring in digidash is a piece of p... (you know what) . Also no speedo healer needed. You just program in your gear ratios & bob's your
uncle
I also kept a simplified connector to allow me to fit the bike clocks (which I kept) for diagnostics.
Early injected R1 (02-03) is a good engine, only needs baffle plate & 2nd clutch spring, unlike later ones
My conscience is clear - I drive a GREEN car

digidash wiring isn't really any different to having a full set of gauges.
i've had no problems in just over a year of use
