Battery cut of switch
Hi
Just wanted to see if people are fitting a battery cut of switch and if you are where you are putting them.
Any pics are welcome.
Cheers

Mine will be hidden under the dashboard, probably on the passenger side
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Mine is also hidden under the dash on the pasenger side, on a aluminum plate so the terminals are also hidden.

I put mine on the outside of the car.
To make it sva friendly I encased it in clear polyester resin. Also an immobiliser fob is inside along with a penny.
The penny is to hang the key on a magnet by my desk (pennies are magnetic).

Mine is on the scuttle which is a little inconvenient but as long as it can't be taken out while driving and complies with other SVA radius
stuff you can pretty much put it where you like.

Who says you can't take it out while driving?
What stops any car driver from removing the ign key?
I think another urban myth!

I may have misinterpreted it but if used as an anti-theft device it should not be able to be operated whilst engine is running. Then again as
I've now re-read it it doesn't seem to mention being activated whilst driven? Which begs the question would a Battery cut off count as
anti-theft? (i know that wasn't the original question but got me thinking)
Have I got it wrong?

It does count as one of the anti-theft devices, but so does an ignition switch

So, does that mean SVA men are applying the rules incorrectly or am I just not reading it right??

I think its only anti-theft devices that act on the steering system which cant be activated whilst driving. i.e. not without removing key anyway.
My sva manual is 130 miles away so cant double check.
edit: also, ive heard not all sva examiners except cut-off keys as a 2nd antitheft device as the keys are too similar. but some do.... its a beautiful
thing, consistency.

I have an immobiliser fob and the other device is a removeable steering wheel........I can hear more rumblings!
The fia key is just an overide to kill everything.

Be careful not to switch off the switch while the engine is running it will fry your electrics.

Not if you use the one with auxilary contacts version with resistor to protect your alternator.
