Plot thickens - ive now reconnected the PCV valve. No vapour release fron oil filler now. Looks like catch tank not required. PCV looks knackered - is it supposed to be spring loaded, sprng released by vacuum from inlet manifold??? If so i need a new one. Are they still available?

Dont know why my PCV had 2 outlets?

My extinguisher idea doesnt sound too dissimiler to what GMTBH had done with water bottle. iirc he used JG weld.

Pat - how did you do your extuinguisher catch tank?

Yes, I used JB weld, however the joints broke after a few weeks (strong but brittle). I flared the ends of the copper tubes and pushed them from the inside of the bottle out, shoved the breather hoses on to the tubes and secured them with jubilee clips. All still OK and tight.
