I made a bead former out of an old pair of vise-grips and some steel scraps.

nah, its not their fault, some plonker built all the roads the wrong way in most of the foreign countries and they have to build their cars the wrong way to compensate.
nice little tool btw, i too was going to solder olives onto the pipe, but you cant do that with ally so it depends whether i go with ally or copper.
