An irksome space problem. Mainly because there isn't enough for the in-line filter ! See pic below.
Bike_Fuel_Pump_Instal
As you can see, there is insufficient space to fit as tank > filter > pump inlet. Are all in-line filters this long? Or does anyone know of a
shorter in-line type? First possible solution might involve some more blue elbows, to keep filter on level with tank outlet. As ever, hoping the LCB
collective might have experience of similar problems, and their solutions.
Another possible scenario - do without the fuel filter altogether. Bad idea??

I put my filter in the engine compartment, near the carbs. Don't know if this is ideal or not, but it works.

INLINE PETROL / DIESEL FUEL FILTER 8MM RIGHT ANGLED HOSE TAILS
[Edited on 25/7/17 by owelly]
Will the Kawasaki elbow filter not fit in? I have one laying around if you want to try one?
Why not use a short length of fuel hose before and/or after the filter and have the filter at 90degs to how it is shown in the picture.
You should be able to do it without 'elbows'.
The filter is very important between the tank and the pump as it only takes a small bit of dirt to wreck the pump.
A very interesting response, thank you all. The right-angle inline filter might be helpful, and thanks for your offer, 40inches. Might get one from the 'Bay.
