I was wondering what size most people have in their CEC's? I'll have a turbo'ed 2.3 Volvo engine so don't want anything to small
that I'll only cover 100miles but don't want a tank that will weigh me down.
I guess the other option is get the largest one and only put a tenner in it lol.
What size tank do you have and what engine are you running?
Cheers Mark
2.0 zetec with a 30 ltr tank, although cant give mileage as still building!!!
Running out of petrol is a real PITA, and embarrasing !
I would go with the largest possible, but only put in what you want at that time
My original tank was 4.5 gallons and way way to small, but my current one is 5.5 gallons and a 1.25 gallons reserve
much more reliable

Can get 28 litres in mine, and almost get 100 miles out of the tank, guess how i know....
think mines 35 litres. its a 2 litre engine, no idea what sort of range it will give though
1.6 4AGE 30litre tank and about 180miles (at a stretch on a motorway)
This is mine 5.2 gallons
Fuel Tank In

I have twin 5 gallon tanks but I don't usually brim them unless on a long distance run. 200+ miles range.
3SGE 2 litre 16V Celica engine.
I wouldn't run with less than 8 gallons with your proposed engine.
You won't be wanting fuel starvation either with your turbo'ed lump so I suggest a properly baffled tank, anti-surge pot etc and an accurate
fuel gauge.

my Fury has a 7.5gallon tank giving 200+ miles, that's on a 2.0 Zetec, The scooby on the other hand is no were near so efficient!!
Hi,
I have a 42 ltr home built tank on a 2.0ltr Zetec, during the trip to Spain last year I managed 40-45 mpg so very happy with the range available.
Regards
Bob
Mine is 5 gallons so comfortably get 150 miles [2.0 Zetec] which is far enough between stops!

With a 2.3 turbo'd engine I don't think the weight of the fuel/tank will make much of an impact on the performance somehow

I've got a home-built 45 litre tank in my Fury - an easy 300 mile range when touring - which just happens to be well beyond my endurance limit on
the Intatrim seats
I have a 6 gallon tank and a V8.
I can always do at least 100 miles between fills. This does not empty the tank.
I rely more on the odometer than the fuel gauge! My gauge goes down quickly when full and more slowly at the bottom. I just dont want to run out
whilst driving, so I fill up at 100 miles on the trip. As already said, it would be embarrasing to run out completely
I get 25mpg on a run to shows like Stoneleigh (A14/M6) and Nweark (A14 and A1) doing a steady 70mph 95% of the way.
If I use lots of right foot the fuel seems to go more quickly along with the performance of the car
I've got 2 x 25L tanks for my V6 - 1 in each side pod for weight distribution. Anything smaller and I would be looking for petrol stations all the time.
