I need to mkae some sort of frame to hold by header tank, volvo 440
and looking for inspiration so post your pictures.
not sure if I sould make it from steel or aluminuim or rivet or weld it.
the base of the tank has a plastic block with sloping sides - imagin the pyramids but with the top 96 % cut off.
I am thinking of making a claw type of arragemebnt to engage in the tank and a bolting arrangement to clamp it in place - probs make no sense at all
....
The bracket will be bolted to a flat surface - I suppose I could bolt it to the vertial side of the scuttle but not too sure about that yet.
So ideas and photos please.
I built a welded steel frame, and 'glued' the tank on with silicone sealant. Worked fine on the MGB and I've just done it again with
the same tank on the Jaguar.
Will post some pics when I get home.
Might be easier and neater to get another tank --- Rover 25 tank is popular, very easy to mount.
see ebay item 110492556949
If you want a bigger tank Rover 45 tank is also a good choice
use the same header for my haldane, i cut a hole in a square of stainless which was about three inches larger than the tank, hole was just about big
enough to squeeze the base in then fit that to the bulkhead horizontal.
a hole was needed in the fibreglass underneath of course
does any of that make sense ?
Got mine from a rover 200, good size and shape tank, made a simple ali bracket up because the one from the rover was huge ! Should fit a treat on the
scuttle, hopefully
