Hey there
My current job involves doing science presentations and workshops with primary school kids. I was wondering if maybe a engine workshop would be a good
activity for them. deals with alot of quite basic scientific principals in an exciting why
Can anyone suggest a small (the smaller the better) engine that would be good to take apart. Was thinking maybe a cart engine or a lawn mower or
something?? It would be good if we could get it to run
Don't suppose anyone has anything kicking about do they?
Thanks for the help again
Rupert
get an B&S engine...
(Britst and straton????)
i even think if you mail them they will send you one if you tell them its for school and educational purposes....!!!
When I was at college we stripped and rebuilt a single cylinder bike engine (probably about 500cc capacity). I've no idea what make/model.
Benefits of it were all aluminium construction (relatively light if you have to take it around) and the block was bolted to a stand for ease of
access.
If you're just looking to demonstrate the moving bits then it can't be difficult to find one with knackered bearings etc for next to
nothing.

i always found lego the best for explaining the principles of the engine
Honda cub (C50) would be a nice small unit.
A small 25cc 2 stroke from a chain saw/ blower.
Pull start and easy to mount to a bench ect, weights bugger all for transport. Will run for ages on a few cc of fuel.
Ive got a complete and running one if you are able to collect Free.
That sounds brilliant!
where abouts are you? feel free to U2U
what about the plastic Hayne one ?? discussed a day or so ago haven't seen one myself so dont know the size. Some car manufactures may be able to assist as they have mock engines made of composite materials agian mention Schools, education ete etc
