Simple contact for Ebay
russbost - 9/10/24 at 09:03 AM

Recently had a bit of a nightmare with a total Wa*ker Ebay seller who tried to rip me off. I'd already contacted Ebay regarding them during a refund request they were being difficult over; using the chat system on their help pages which initially gives you a robot, but if you continue to request an agent, you do get a real person to speak to. They had been helpful & the refund procedure continued only for the seller to issue just a partial refund - I had returned all the items in the original box, complete, as received.

There is nowhere to ask for assistance with a partial refund on their help pages, so I re-initiated the chat, which picked up from the previous messages we'd already exchanged, however, this time when i requested an agent it came up with Live chat unavailable or something to that effect, after a couple of further tries with the same message I did a bit of Googling & found this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid

which takes you to a page offering a callback - I didn't have high hopes, but thought I'd give it a go, nothing to lose - absolutely brilliant, it said callback wait was 2 mins! I got a callback after about 1 minute from someone who actually spoke English & couldn't have been more helpful, he was able to see the return & previous conversation & I explained the seller had given a partial refund with no explanation whatsoever - nor any reason to do so. He checked a few things & clarified a couple of items (it had been a prolonged & messy return thanks to the seller being a total Dick!) & agreed refund should have been made in full, should have an email in the next hour or so - I'll be back on here whinging if I don't!

Just thought I'd share the link as saved me hours of faffing!

Seems unusually helpful for Ebay and a positive step that you got a call back.

I used to quite enjoy selling uneeded or unwanted things on Ebay (private seller to private buyer). Over the past few years it seems to have got more business to consumer focussed. Less pleasant to for the private seller to use.

Maybe a mark of their size/success.

I'd agree & they have this callback help well hidden, hence why I thought it worth offering everyone else the "heads up"

Always pleasing to hear some agreement!

They do seem heavily in favour of the seller these days (or simply not wanting to get involved).

What I can't stand about ebay these days is the AI generated descriptions. They're just so obvious, there's nothing intelligent about it at all. I'd never buy an item where they've not even bothered describing it.

That and really poorly photographed items.

Clean the item, tidy the background and describe it well (encourage buyers).
