Lost a good Man?
MarkL - 19/4/04 at 11:27 AM

Bought Which Kit mag last week to look at the Velocity build.
Did anyone see the sending off they gave for there man detail dean who seams to have left for a Rival Mag " ouch that must have smarted".
I hope when I leave work I get a better sending off than that.

I thought he kept the mag going with his work, although he never built a kit at the cheaper end of the market.
Enjoyed the features on engines he did, but compare Mr sheen's build report of the Velocity to that of the Ultima (I am not comparing cars just the writing).
The report of the Velocity looks like the build manual and now the cars finished it,s up for sale.

I trust the report does not stop at the build and they ran it on the road for a few weeks to get a drivers report as well.

What sending off did they give him?

I know its cheeky but any chance of scanned images of the velocity article? just good enough to read the writing.......

It's sad really....

If those two mags spent less time slagging each other off like a pair of petulant children and just concentrated on their content they'd be all the better for it, particularly 'Kitcar'. I buy maybe 2 out of every 3 issues and always, without fail, there are glaring errors of spelling and grammar, captions that don't match photos, obvious errors of fact passed of as 'wisdom', etc, etc etc.

Fools and tossers, the lot of them.

MarkL - 19/4/04 at 01:34 PM

The sending off was pretty poor for a bloke who did so much for the mag (My view as a reader)

He is a very nice chap you can ask him anything, and is a true font of all knowledge, met him on the which kit magazine stands at the shows.

You know what these kitcar mags are like for going to court, so I better not scan it.

What I was getting at is considering his profile and the work he has done in the past, it was left to the last page past the adverts to acknolwedge him, although if I had lost a prized asset to a competitor perhaps I would'nt be shouting about it.

Left the mag at home but there was a sting in the tail about his loyalty.

You know what these kitcar mags are like for going to court, so I'd better not scan it.

I think I have bought 4 kit mags in 4 years.......

at the end of the day, what is company loyalty?

In my working life of 25+ years I have survived at least 4 buyouts, redunances, etc. Didnt see too much company loyalty shown to employees on those occasions......

Lets face it lads,if detail dean had been paid proper wonga in the 1st place he'd still be with which kit

I'm sure they wil have enough offers from people who want to be in the limelight

Mark18 - 19/4/04 at 08:16 PM

I am shocked at how unprofessional kitcar were in the article posted above - publicly unreservedly and childishly lashing out not only the other mag but at the guy who was such an asset to the magazine? "Oh well, so what?" - Even if thats your attitute, you don't go and publish it .

Another good reason for not buying that crap

thekafer - 19/4/04 at 11:12 PM

This is the kind of thing you say to the dude face to face in a closed office. Unless of course, you think he might kick your ass, then it's best to write it from the safety of your desk post mordum and post it in your "rag" like a little back stabbing beotch!

Never mind all that.

Page 125 - I'll say no more!

Cheers

I read a few different car mags and the contributors regularly change from one to the other (and often back again) with no comments made about it.

Not sure they will ever manage to tempt him back in the future if that is how they talk about him. Not a good move in any terms - especially as for those readers who liked his articles it is pretty obvious where he can be read in future!

silly buggers should've kept schtum... employed some fool with the same name!

Just read the article he has written for the new employer. Writes in a pleasant way about the issue between the two mags and is complementary about Which Kit. Shame they couldn't have done the same.
