My pump pulley has started making a knocking noise. Watching it a tickover it ocassianally does a bit of a wobble and associated knock.
What you'd like to do is tighten it up, but its not that simple.
I've removed the small nut and taken the clutch plate off the front, pics below.
I can see it looks like this runs on a pair of bearings
What i now need to know is....
Can i fix this in situ?
Should the pulley also pull off the front, easily or not?
Is this not possible due to the electrical connection to the clutch somewhere?
Anyone got one off a car that they can take a look at as it's difficult to see from above?
TIA

Are you on www.uksaabs.co.uk ? they are a pretty helpful bunch
Really interested to see the outcome of this, as mine has just started to do the same thing!
I might have an aircon pump from my 2001 Aero in my other garage if its any use ? no pulley as I just swapped them
the pulleys are prone to failing, mine let go when trying to put a very swift Evo in its place, oops clank.
check the part numbers of the pulley via uksaabs,

I cannot remember if i took the pump off or not, it was about 2003 ish... does it have a nut inside the pulley ?
your pump may be different from mine, Ive not got any saab parts stuff anymore to help you out with part compatibolity etc, sorry
uksaabs or saabscene are both good sites.
No nut inside, thats what I ws hoping to find
As per the pic , just a bearing and presumably the same at the back too, hence the Q
I'll post over on one of the saab forums, (I think I'm a member actually ) and report back, unless anyone else can help
Are you sure it's that part mate?
Ive done a bit of digging and this sounds more like my problem.

Yes 100% I've can see it doing it.
It also helps a bit if the aircon is ON as the clutch is then gripped and I suppose stabilizes it a bit more.

BUT! I'm still not surre if I can pull the pulley off and replace the bearings, in situ?????
