hopefully my last stupid question
jabbahutt - 22/4/08 at 12:12 PM

Afternoon all

Well after all my previous posts on the dark art of electrics you'll be glad to hear that this will hopefully be my last one.

Just wiring up the rear lights. The wiring diagram (vicky green) shows the lights negative being connected to the black wire in the loom

So far nice and easy, it also shows that this connection should be conected to earth????

Is this correct or just diagramtic to show that the black wires go to earth eventually??

Any clarification on whether the light units need earthing locally as well as connecting to the earth on the loom would be much appreciated as hopefully that is it for me electrically on this car

Many thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated.
Nigel

maybe that black wire is earthing another component on the same earth as the light and they just want you to use the same earth?

In my Tiger loom, all the earth wires are black and go to a couple of ring connectors at each end of the car which need attaching to the chassis. I'm sure your loom will be pretty much the same so wont need any other earthing for the lights so long as you get a good earth at these central earthing points.

Almost done with the Supercat Nigel so if you need a hand at any point i should be free after this weekend.

i connected my rear lights to earth locally.

infact, same with everything on my car, its earthed locally ( except for a few bits and bobs ).

front lights, horn, ecu, relays etc, all earthed to local points.

Belt and braces -- earth locally and through the loom

Edit to say - There are no stupid questions, sometimes there are stupid answers.

You ask the questions that lots of people want to but are afraid of being shown up: no need to be apologetic. Keep going
