Dominator Headlights 4" Twin/Single :(
takumi - 8/10/07 at 02:11 PM

Hi all,

I keep on seeing those tiny 3.5"/4" Dominator headlights on kitcars and think they look very cool..

After looking on fleabay and web, they are shockingly expensive. £40 for a single unit, and nearer £65 for a Twin.

My question is, the twin unit looks like 2 single headlights with a joining bar in the center..

Is is possible to buy a twin set and seperate the unit into two single healights..

The chassis mountings are on each end, so the joint of the middle shouldn't affect any bracket mounting on a locost..

Can Anyone Advise..

There is still some debate over whether the dominator headlights are SVA OK (they dip downwards). I am told you can rotate them to get an acceptable pattern. I have two twins in the garage so will check later if they can be successfully separated.

I have a brand new still in their boxes pair of these
You can have for £60 including postage, I dont think they are SVA friendly but some have passed with them by altering them.

I see what you mean by, dipping downwards,

you could mount the individual lights (from a twin) in the same orientation, using a L shape bracket, attaching to the headlight sideways on the inside of the bracket,
that way it keeps the lightly angles the same..

I dont like the chrome

black or carbon..

I'm not intending to buy any just yet, just testing the water to see what could be a more cost effective option..

I've now checked and you could separate the twin units. They are bolted together and some of the electrical connections are externally commoned. You would end up with two units with side mountings, one a through hole and one a threaded insert. You could always put a rivnut in the through holes.

Hope this helps.

I think I'll be swapping the 55/60w H4 for lower power 35w Motorcycles H4 bulbs, poor things must get soo hot.. aswell as the extra current load.. I only have an ickle alternator on my engine.. Rescued attachment S1031623.JPG
