Im looking for a push button switch that i can use in place of the start button on my bike switchgear.
I cant remember the terminology for switched that denote whether they are push for on and push for off,or push and hold for on and release for off.
Knowing the termnoligy would let me search the net for a suitable switch.
Wold i need to use a relay if its just in place of me starter button on the bike - which only provides low current power to the starter relay anyway?
reason i ask is that i would like a small push button switch ideally.
Thanks
you need a momentary normally open pushbutton

I've used one of these
No need for anything heavy duty, as you say, it's only operating a relay.
Martin.
Thanks
How are you getting on Martin?
you were making steady progress for your SVA last time i saw you...............................
{Quote from Maplin www}
It has a slow momentary SPNO operation .
{quote End}
this type of switch is described as having a slow release, meaning that the circuit will be closed for 'a couple of seconds' (as stated on
the maplins www) will this not lead to over run on the starter motor when the engine fires up in less than a second?
My starter stops as soon as I take my finger off the button.
It does need the button to be pushed a mm or two as opposed to just being brushed for it to make contact, so maybe that's what they mean.
SVA's on hold as I didn't get it done before I started my final year. I should graduate in May, so I'll be SVAing sometime shortly
afterwards.
Martin.
