I am just looking at the microsquirt I have, but I need to get a mapping cable.
Ideally I want one of these, but shipping from the USA can be "difficult"
https://www.stinger-performance.com/store/usb-serial-2.5mm-audio-microsquirt-pimpx-expansion
(it is the little 2.5mm "headphone type" jack to a USB with built in FTDI etc)
The other alternative is for me to make an adaptor cable with a 2.5mm jack and a serial connector (I am assuming just 3 wires are used) and then use
the serial to USB lead I already have. But I cannot find anything about which pins to use on a serial plug. It seems MS is in serious decline?
I'm pretty sure the serial cables for Innovate lambda controllers/dataloggers use the same pinout, they're on eBay for about 20 quid.
They should plug straight into your serial-usb converter and work straight off.
If you want to diy the cable, the left side of the diagram in the link should be correct.

That is really helpful.
The obvious solution is to chop off the MS female jack and fit a male 9 pin connector. Not sure why I didn't think of that before!
