Now this may just be me and my position within the car but with the handbrake mounted where it should be I cannot operate the gear lever comfortably.
I was considering mounting the lever to one side or even further forward and to one side. Any ideas and are there any better handbrakes to use other
than the Sierra item.
Many thanks
i was thinking about using one out of a beford midi van, as it pulls out of the dash
I was also wondering about something like that. Would keep the tunnel neat and could mount on a plate just under the dash so out of sight.
Or maybe a floor mounted and pedal operated one like in some Mercedes'. But I don't know if it's a mechanical or hydraulic one plus
I don't think you'll find a space even in the (relatively) wide MNR.
Cheers,
Michal
I believe it is mechanical as hydraulic is not MOTable. I was also considering a transmision lock but where would be the best place to fit it and how?
westfield do a transmission lock that might be suitable for you
The sierra hand brake on my vortx is a bit high for my liking. It would be nice if it were mounted a bit lower and there does seem to be enough room over the propshaft. Perhaps you could replace the straight brackets with U shaped ones, if you can weld.
I've noticed a few people have mounted it on the side of the tunnel on the passenger side. I think it is the Metro lever/mechanism that owes
itself to this location due to being quite flat, though I maybe wrong.

I saw a Dax Rush with a hand brake under the dash, just to the left of the steering column. HTH

Richard Miles put it here on his Striker. Id love a vertical
WRC Style Handbrake one but theyre a touch on the expensive side.

I've mounted my Metro one vertically in the tunnel whihc rests against the dash when off as I don't have a gear lever (BEC paddle shift).
Get a Metro one and you can mount them just about anywhere with a bit of ingenuity.
Caterham mount a few under the dash on the passenger side as well - not sure which models though.
I've seen one under the drivers seat as well.

Pat,
Do you have a picture of your interior at all that shows it mounted?
Thanks,
Steve
I found this after trawling the net. It is for disabled driver conversions. It must be fail safe so should be OK for SVA man, I have requested price
and more info.
Electric Park Brake
ive got a midget lever just like dave,s if ya want it
Original lotus 7 position is horizontal under the dash on the passenger side, a bit of a nightmare to reach in a harness and probably an SVA tricky
item!

Held in place by 2 nuts welded to the chassis.
Hope that helps,

That is fantastic thanks. Although I could just see my missus popping to the shop and smoking the rears at every gear change!
