Hi all,
I'll be getting my car back in a few weeks it would seam and the next step getting the car ready for an IVA nightmare day is the rear cover. I am
going to try and make a vinyl cover similar to a Caterham rear cover, I've got the studs already, has anyone also made one of these and could
pass on to me the best way to make it?
I've seen that I could buy one for about £120, but as I'm building a Locost, I'm trying to do it as cost effective as possible.
I have tried to search for ideas, but couldn't find any.

Description
Hi Jason. Make a cardboard template to fit full width and depth of the top cutting round rear stays. The material i used came from Dunelm. Think it
was table top protector, can be stretched a little then make sides 75 mm deep but fold into 2 layers for strength. I did th machining on the inside.
Made in 2005 for SVA and never leaked. Goes a bit soft in the sun.
Proper material try https://www.profabrics.co.uk/index.php

That looks ideal, but I guess mine would have to be bespoke so non standard, and as I need it pre IVA i can't easily get the car anywhere for a
trial fitting before making, hence why i think trying to make it myself would be best idea.
But many thanks for that idea, it also gives me a good visual template

Hi all,
Is this gear from Car Builder Solutions any good for this ?

Jason
That should be fine, how much do you need as I may have some in my garage.
Hi Ya,
Sadly I don't have a clue at the moment, but am assuming that the normal rolls are 1.5m wide and the boot areas are less than 1m, so i'd be
ordering 1m of the std roll of 1.5m wide if that makes any sense ?

I'll have a look and see if I can find it and let you know.
I managed to get a quick look at the car this afternoon, the boot area is 104cm wide to the top outside edges of the rear bars, and 43cm deep from the
top back point of the rear bar and front of the box section behind the seats.
So i guess from previous posts, I'll ned to add about 10mm to each side for a folded seam point, and maybe 100mm strip around the edge at the
rear so as to make a double sided drop down section of 40mm also incorporating the 10mm on each edge for the joining seams?
As you can guess, i'm no seamstress so will probably have to really take my time so as not to waste any material.
