Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 06:40 PM

The Robin Hood S6 was like that, they called it a "barrell back"

I called it "ugly", but then it's just my opinion.

Cheers

I like it! Not much on luggage space, tho' (if that matters).

Lots of ways to do the rear if you're not afraid of GRP, this being the easiest-looking that I've seen.

Interesting that the rear is higher than the usual Locost. IMO, even just raising the rear deck helps the looks a bunch.

Where's the fuel tank going to fit? It looks like the automobile answer to the bungalow.

yours, Pete.

it'll fit nicely over the rear axle, should be better protected in rear impact (ooo-er)

and remember, this is early sketch of the idea, by no means a design

true enough, i'm not sure about the hight, but i think either like that, or about the same level as the side panels/floor will work best

Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 08:03 PM

hmmmn

Dale - 2/3/04 at 08:28 PM

I am going with a rounded rear as well - plans can be seen in the photos but I am giving it some lenth to give a bit more crash protection and better ethsetics -well im my opinon anyway-
just to be different

another 2 ideas

i think 3 is too arsey, and 4 is getting somwhere

Mark Allanson - 2/3/04 at 08:58 PM

Perhaps a vertical swage line down the middle

Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 08:59 PM

And I thought this forum had stooped as low as it could go.

Funny stuff yes, rude stuff within reason...

But this hammers down all decency and craps on it's grave.

So much for it being a f*cking car building community forum.

It's turning into a pile of shite.

Give me a shout when it's back to being half normal.

Mark Allanson - 2/3/04 at 09:00 PM

Seriously, it looks very much like a 1930's Riley, the Gamecock I think, perhaps a google search?

Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 09:02 PM

hmmmm

http://www.autogallery.org.ru/m/riley.htm

seems to have a lot of rileys

Oh, when I was speaking of deck height before, I meant the top, where the roll bar mounts. I think some Locosts looks a bit 'squatty'. The SPD may kill you, but they have a nice sense of esthetics. Have you seen the Snake?

Are you going for vintage or modern? How about a torpedo with cycle fenders?

Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 09:30 PM

i'm going for modern-ish

the story so far.

all round i like the locost/seven style, but i'm not keen on the back end, and wasn't keen on the higher ground clearance at the back

Mark Allanson - 2/3/04 at 09:32 PM

very nice, but not the one I was thinking of. There was a kit/replica available a few years ago with a rounded rear end, the design looked very balanced

Surrey Dave - 2/3/04 at 09:56 PM

I prefer the 1st one with perhaps an inch added at the bottom.

I think Noddy and his friends would too!!

Staple balls - 2/3/04 at 09:58 PM

could be worse..

could be green & alu like every other seven

Mark Allanson - 2/3/04 at 10:37 PM

Interesting registration number though

Surrey Dave - 3/3/04 at 08:58 AM

Here in the Land of No Sevens a green and aluminum car is stunningly original and creative Can't make up my mind between Triumph Racing Green, MG Brooklands Green, or 1950's Jaguar Dark Green (think D-Type).

Agreed with Dave, #1 plus an inch would look good.

greggors84 - 3/3/04 at 10:46 PM

talking about SPD having good asthetics. Didnt they use MK bodywork, or did they make that themselves?

Staple balls - 4/3/04 at 12:01 AM

i think it was just mk

but i doubt they could manage to fit it right

Wadders - 4/3/04 at 12:07 AM

Wounded, sniff

Peteff - 4/3/04 at 11:27 AM

I prefer green and silver anyway.

Dave, are those trailing arms really that long?, may have a SVA problem with them !

Dave Ashurst - 5/3/04 at 07:55 PM

Yes. But don't get distracted, you're supposed to be admiring the cleverly composite shape of the rear end panels!!

Apart from the wings (which could be copied in fibreglass) it's single curvature aluminium.

Anyway SVA won't pose a problem because
(A) it's not in UK and sadly
(B) it's nothing to do with me.

Dave Ashurst - 5/3/04 at 09:04 PM

Mmmm... drool... metal polish and flour, yummy...

er hang on... How did you know that?! Have you been spying on me?

Quick.. out with the green and silver paint!
