Hopefully picking my Kit up early Nov. I have a fairly solid basic set of tools. There are a few extras I will need.
First thing that strikes is stand for the initial work. What do people use, bought? Built?
(Got a spare set in the NW you fancy lending me?!)
Cheers
I used 4 axle stands until I was ready to drop it onto it's wheels. Easy to re-position if you need to get to a certain part of the chasis etc, cheap as chips and come in handy afterwards too.
Seeing as I only have a small garage I needed something that could be moved to my drive. So I used a wooden dolley that I made out of old kitchen work
top and heavy duty wheels.
I fixed the chassis to this and found I could wheel it around much easier. It really helped, especially with cleaning and painting before the
build.
I kept it on this until the wheels were fitted.
I just cut up three pallets into quarters and am using them. So far (5months) I have had no problem and you can easily pick up pallets for nothing. They are very stable as well so sitting in the car and pretending hasn't been a problem
i got some tressle type things from aldi, think they were about £10 each, meant i could get the car high enough to make working on it comfy, and store all the bits underneath
i used 2 of these http://www.wickes.co.uk/Step-Ladders/Professional-Hop-Up-Platform/invt/170000
handy to have anytime to be honest were only £20 when i got em
4 axle stands here too once car had a few bits on it. Before that when i wanted it higher i used 2 plastic trestles from B&Q (probs stanley make) - these worked very well.
I have made 2 stands like this for the early stage. However I think, building your own stands is not woth the hassle when I see the above mentioned
stands.
Stands
Later on I have used a pallet with 'non heavy duty' wheels. This was no succes.
Then I moved to 3 pieces of standard rollers (200kg capacity) as can be seen here:

Wickes are selling workbenches that can be angled at 45 & 90 degrees for £9.97 (though the website shows £19.99).
mine sat on 4 peices of box section on the floor for years. no need for anything fancy.
just remember to think about how you'll get it off the standswhen all manner of bits are bolted on
my chassis is a LOT heavier right enough
