Wrong Handbrake?
Colnago_Man - 11/12/06 at 09:07 PM

Can some help me please, I just received my Sierra handbrake but it doesnt fit the hole on my chassis. I assumed that a Sierra one was the right one to get but now I might be wrong. The two bolt holes are in the completely wrong position. You can see from the attached pic that there were two other plates in the tunnel that have been removed but these are also two close together to fir the Sierra lever.

Any idea what might fit.

My chassis is a second hand affair that someone else was re-building and had previous been complete so I'am sure some handbrake or other was in there.
Thanks. Rescued attachment handbrake.jpg

That looks like it is drilled to take an Escort handbrake. I don't know the sierra configuration, but could you not re drill or make up new brackets?

Thanks David, it does indeed look like it will take the handbrake in your picture.

I cannot drill the plates as they are too close together, getting an extra plate fitted might be an option but it would mean finding someone with a welder.
I might try and source an Escort lever and see what changes I will need to make to the cable. I would be suprised if and Escort cable would work directely on my Sierra rear drums.

Thanks again.
