On building the steeering colum to the rack is there a max amount of UJ`s you can for the IVA, and certain regs involved?
Am i correct in thinkig the more UJ`s the more play there would be in the steering?

Doesnt it depend on how tight the UJ joints are. my tiger has 1 extra UJ added to the current 1 UJ and rubber thing which is standard on the bottom of the column next to the rack.

I dont like the fact it has the extra UJ but its needed to get round the engine.

Make sure its mounted with a sphere bearing half way down to stop the movement.

don't think theres a maximum, but more than two, and you'll need to support the column somewhere!
certainly can't think of any mention of a maximum number in the manual

I have three, one on the end of the coumn, one on the rack and a third half way down to get around the exhaust. This did mean that I needed a bearing near the mid one to suport the column and this is in a housing welded to the chassis. HTH Ray

I have four .

For every joint greater than 2 you need a support bearing/pillow block to support the column, preferably close as possible to the joints. There's no detectable play in mine. If all the joints were floppy and worn out it'd be a different matter.
