Propshaft ends
a4gom - 9/2/09 at 02:59 PM

Need to get my prop cut n shut, repaired and altered, I'm going to ring around a few places for an idea of a price but don't want to sound like a complete numpty.

I have a sierra end on the prop at the moment which needs changing for a small english flange the same as those on the reverse box and most bike output adaptors.
Will they understand what I mean by small english and sierra or do they have proper names?

I'd be very surprised if you can find a propshaft manafacturer who hasn't done a prop split for a reverse box so if you just say "Sierra diff to blah blah reverse box" they'll know what you're chattling about.... Most people go for a well known prop modifier just cos when it's done badly it can be bad (lots of vibrations) or really bad.....

Nothing like an enjoyble afternoon talking about "Flanges".

Thats my favorite word that is.

I'm sure your right ben and I do have an outlet quite close but I was going to try and get an idea of price elsewhere first.

This is my prop in the pic below hopefully it will make more sense now:

End A is a small escort flange (english I believe) which matches the reverse box this obviously needs repairing.
End B need shortening by approx 4", it has a sierra flange on at the moment but needs a small escort flange to match the other end.

I can recommend Dunning & Fairbank http://www.propshafts.co.uk/
They completely understood what I was going on about (Sierra thingy etc) and fairly local to you too.
