Rear lights and SVA

Do all my rear lights have to be mounted vertically? I know the reverse and fogs need to be but how about the ones on the rear mudguards?
Cheers

Nope, just illumnation and angles of visibility checked. Only fog if present, needs to be vertical.

IIRC only fog has to be vertical...

I have just been fitting my rear light cluster and i am very interested in this thread.

I bought a light cluster with a built in fog light. i have mounted the cluster on the rear wing. with spacers i can get all the lights facing the rear but vertical is more of a problem.

this means that the reverse is to the rear but a couple of degrees out of vertical.

it would appear from the replys that there is a difference of oppinion over whether the reversing light has to be truly vertical. my reading of the manual would infer that the reversing light should face the "rear" the fog light mentions verticality.

has any one who has had their reversing light out of the vertical had any problems with the SVA?

Is the fog lamp 100mm from the brake light? There has to be this much separation between the two for SVA.

it was a very tough weekend.......

My deepest appologies for my brain fade..

the light cluster has a reversing light not a fog light. the fog light i have fitted on a bracket in the vertical and rear facing position.

the reversing light being part of the cluster is not in the true vertical but is rear facing will this be a problem or should i suck it and see.

Sorry Ive just dug out the Draft SVA manual Ive got and it quotes

"Reason for failure - Rear Fog Lamp - .....fitted such that the reflector is not facing facing squarely to the rear"

The reversing lamp only needs to be directed to the rear.
