Where from?
I need a huge can for my R1 Indy. My mates Megabusa can is huge, but I dont fancy the £400+ price tag, plus I think his link pipe is about 3/4 inch
bigger.
The Micron has to go, its too loud and wont get me on a track!
Anyone know a company that will make one up over the phone etc? I am based in Surrey
Like this?
Nice can
Got mine for sale which would work nicely for you...

Forgot to say mine came of a Westfield with a 4vx R1 engine, was 100db when newly packed! That should get you on most tracks!

thanks mate but i am wanting something that I can get down to the 98's if need be.
Hi
If it is a genuine 98db you are looking to achieve on a drive you will find it hard to find one.
Tips however are 1. Do not pack the silencer solid. It will need to be just snugly packed. 2. Huge silencers are not always the answer a well designed
and constructed item out of the right materials works far better than the stainless steel fabricated ones. 3. wrapping the perf tube with Stainless
wire wool will reduce the rate at witch your packing is lost. Although do not go over the top as it will make things worse if over done. And finally
packing materials. Most on the market are of poor quality and either melt away or simply disintegrate. Research required.
It's not impossible as i found out after spending hundreds of pounds on silencers it became apparent that we could not buy one to do the job we
wanted it to do so ended up having to make our own for the race cars.
Cheers Matt
Try Merlin Motorsport not only are they reasonable at approx £160 they are lighter than most. You can replace the outer stainless sheath with Ali if you want it lighter.
Fit a standard R1 can from the bike cheap and effective. Passed sva no problem with one on mine.
what db would i get with a stand can and how restrictive are they?
Mine was 96db i think at 7200 revs at sva with a 03 r1 can on.
Probably costs you between 5-10 horsepower though , but saves watching all the cars go by on a trackday after failing.

Raw Engineering do a 6 inch can in stainless for around £140 + VAT. I custom ordered the length and upped the pipe diameter to 2.5"
The Merlin ones do seem decent for the money and are certainly lighter then the RAW one. The one we had on a Radical did discolour quickly though but
wasn't an issue on a race car. Might have been getting too hot under the body work.
The RAW can didn't seal particulary well around the end cap because they use quite thick stainless. I used a small bead of silicon which I
didn't think would hold but hasn't budged even after half a day on the dyno.
