Did you get an airbox with it? It looks like a breather.
That is correct, it normally goes to the breather thingy which is attached to the airbox

My manual calls it a 'sub-air cleaner housing' and it is simply a small plastic box with a foam filter in place. If you dont have one I would think it would be easy to use a small off the shelf crank case breather filter. Dont leave it open though as all manner of nasty stuff could be pulled in.
