Do people prefer the standard bike dash (dials) R1 bike)) or do the after market dash do a better job?

Since I dont have a bike (nor been in a BEC with them fitted) I dont know.

Still not sure, will have to look around the forum abit more and nose at cars at stoneleigh.
Like the simple look of the bike speedo, but you have to add a few gauges dont you?
Also dont the R1 gauge show simple error codes?
The advantage of the bike clocks on the later R1's is the diagnostics run through the dash. The early ones are simple blink codes but the later
injected ones are a lot more; As well as the codes you can read sensor values and fire individual actuators (injectors,coils,etc).

Description
I get accurate speedo, tacho, temp gauge. Shift, indicator, high beam and neutral lights, odometer, 2 trip meters, clock all built in designed to work
with your engine and it's wiring.
The only thing I've added is a oil pressure and fuel gauge.
And I like the look of them.
neither, go for a digidash.
personally i would prefer the look of aftermarket gauges but as mine is mainly a trackday car a digidash is much more practical

here's mine, not properly fitted, but just sitting in place. I'll clean it all up when i get round to the final assembly lol
Wiring in digidash is a piece of p... (you know what) . Also no speedo healer needed. You just program in your gear ratios & bob's your
uncle
I also kept a simplified connector to allow me to fit the bike clocks (which I kept) for diagnostics.
Early injected R1 (02-03) is a good engine, only needs baffle plate & 2nd clutch spring, unlike later ones
