Snowed in so locking myself away in the
garage to tackle clutch change using gen
Honda parts evan got a basket holding tool.
91 Blade been in the MK since 2002 what
will i find. Clutch has never slipped but serious
clunk goin into 1st as they do but now 1st to
2nd and now 3rd.Also serious clutch rattle at idle till you apply the clutch.
Let you know how i get on later

I doubt it will be a problem with your plates... hopefully it is nothing too serious!

Probably nothing mucc, possible fretting on the basket
let us know what you find, mine rattles at dle when hot, just to lazy to touch it as it's working fine

Things dont appear to bad friction discs are
fine the others are a little sad as in pitted and
slightly blue. Basket looks fine its the centre
drum that has clear groves where the discs
move up and down on , manual says you can
file them back smooth or should i buy new to
suit all new discs i have and should i soak the
discs overnight before fitting.

What sort of "pitted"?

I can't imagine filing is a great idea
Specially in the rattle stakes?

Mine looked just like that on my 918 engine. I filled mine and managed to get them real smooth. Fitted new OEM plates, discs and springs and found it works great

Same things just happened on my Honda MX bike...I have come to the conclusion that Honda's baskets are made from baked bean metal!! The Baskets cost a few hundred and pressure plates about a nifty if you've started getting a bad lip on it

Ok so want a laugh...

Whilst the clutch was out eyes wander and
thought i will change the fuel filter in the
regulator no probs but put it next to the
clutch cover... now when i put the clutch
all back in, cover on job done so i thought
TILL i put the fuel filter back in only to find
the little spring that pushes the filter up
missing...think think OH NO surely not i only
put it behind the clutch cover were i thought
it had come from so after retrieving it
putting it all back together i have only
sheared off one of the 5 spring bolts so
came in having had enough.. There must be
a moral to the story but dammed if i can
think of it....

at least its happened now - if the threads were dodgy... its happened when in teh garage so you can get it out - re tapped or just pick up a new basket etc..

better than happenening 100 miles from home - or at a track day thats cost ££
