hi all i was looking to buy a full cage for my indy i allready have the rear half so i only need the rest only problem is that my rear cage is 45 mm and mk now make there cages out of 50mm tubing has anywon else used the 50 on a 45 if so dose it look ok i dont wont to pay all that money to reseve it looking stupid pics would be great many thanks ian

Is the brace rear hoop the same as the rear portion of the full cage? Makes sense i guess.
- I would proberbly be keen on a cage if i did buy a car, but many just have the hoop. As seams to have happen with the OP. I would interested in sidebars too.

Hi just be very careful what you intend too use the cage for. Many of the cages supplied are not legal for use under any MSA regulations if you intend on sprinting ect.

Hi a basic roll hoop with back/front stays larger than 45mm will suffice for sprinting. But it's when you start fitting full cages the problems start. If it's under 45mm as with a basic roll hoop it will need full certification. But full cages have to follow the basic guide lines regarding desighn in the blue book.

If serious about a full cage for use under MSA/FIA regulations you would be wise to obtain the latest regs for cages from the MSA/FIA and then make decisions. But for sure the MSA scrutineers are now cracking down on the cages and roll hoops that do not comply. And some manufacturers of cages DO NOT seem to fully understand what is and is not allowed.

i didn't think it mattered what type of roll cage you have fitted if the car is registered for road use and you are competing in the appropriate class. I thought the regs only applied if it is a track only car.

Yep it's a very tricky situation. But currently there are no MSA regulations. It now all falls under FIA. as i say do some proper research with the MSA/FIA on the new regulations. These where out in 2004. But only now are they fully implementing them.
