Rear arch to chassis curved bar bit
Avoneer - 12/3/06 at 04:29 PM

Anyone got a good solution to this other than getting someone to bend a bit of 25mm square for me that matches the same profile of the arch?

Cheers,

Got some ST arches.

I've had to patch them up though as they were battered and they are now a lot heavier.

Also, don't think they would last long as a lot of folk put one hand on the arch when getting in and I wouldn't trust these.

Dont use 25mm square, use 25mm flat bar.

Dead easy to bend.

Nothing to bolt the arch to then.

Been wondering about this bit I came up with a few possible soltuions

(1) as per Loco boy 25x2.5 flat strip hot bent.

(2) Tradditional use a wood (ash) frame and clad with alluminium sheet.

(3) Make a Grp mould up

Weld in a steel panel (bit out an old PC case ?) and clad it with alloy.

Why not use angle? Cut V's in it to allow it to bend to the required shape. Then you've got all the bolt holes you'll need/want to put in.

use flat bar and weld tags on (as angle ) where u need to bolt the arch on.

Thats What I have done.

I put to much heat in when seam welding it and it distorted a bit

How did painting the chassis with por15 go Pat ?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't pedals see loads of force in emergency stop type situations? Surely you don't want these snapping at such a time?

Previous post deleted for fairly obvious reasons

Similar to others, but with more curl. Rescued attachment side_curve.jpg
