April Shropshire Meet - Sunday 9th
MartinDB - 28/3/06 at 05:56 PM

So,
can we top March's 3 attendees?

1pm at The Bear, Hodnet.

Any locals know if they do food at that time Sunday's and what it's like? Hopefully we'll have some visitors from Birmingham, and they'll be hungry.

Martin.

JAG - 29/3/06 at 08:04 AM

Moorron - 29/3/06 at 09:11 AM

sounds good to me

OX - 29/3/06 at 10:36 AM

if i get back in time i will pop up.
yes the bear does food or i could take you to another little pub just down the road that serves nice bar food

zxrlocost - 29/3/06 at 10:42 AM

I always will come to meets and shows but this month has been crucial theres no point going to a meet etc if Ive got a deadline for the car to be built may aswell
use the time to build it

so in may youll have another one there

Id let OX take you to another pub

I went to the Bear after going to his house and it was quite expensive and they serve things most would never have heard of

Andy S - 29/3/06 at 01:13 PM

Should have made the meet this weekend at Loton Park at the H&DLCC members practice day.

Stille there's always the rest of summer events at Loton

richijenkin - 29/3/06 at 01:22 PM

Pants.. cant make it.

MikeLR - 29/3/06 at 02:51 PM

Andy S.
I see that Loton Park is on Sat and Sunday,is it for members only, even for spectating.

OX - 29/3/06 at 03:14 PM

bourne and otto have entered but they say its private,i thought id pop up and see if i can get it

Andy S - 29/3/06 at 05:45 PM

The event i.e - running cars on the hill is for H&DCC members only and is fully subscribed. For spectating - its £8 a day I think - free for members.

Its the best value motorsport from a spectator standpoint you will get and if you have never been its great grass roots stuff.

From a participant standpoint per hour on the track its more expensive than F1 but mush more thrilling the run off area's have tree's in them

It should be a good weekend as quite a few of the big boys will be out for an early season shake down.

Edit - I cant find any entrance fee mentioned the £8/10 is for the full event days - so this weekend may be free admission - even better -

You could drop the Club Comp secretary Dave Parr an e-mail - clubsec@hdlcc.com

Either way you will not be turned away

Andrew

Andy S.
Totally agree regarding an excellent venue etc.
Been very many times, if dry will go early and then onto Hodnet.

Andy S - 29/3/06 at 07:48 PM

Just bear in mind that Loton is this weekend 1 & 2nd and Hodnet is next weekend 9th

Anyway - sorry for the thread digression and although I cant make the 9th - I will certainly try and make it another time.

Cheers

Andrew

MikeLR - 29/3/06 at 08:00 PM

OOPS Must be a mental "Welsh"abberation !

jos - 31/3/06 at 07:07 AM

I cant make it this month sorry.

You watch, it'll be glorious sunshine and everyone will have their cars finished SVA'd registered & roadworthy.

Andy S - 1/4/06 at 02:48 PM

Dropped into Loton in the tin top to pick up some bits from one of the racers and its FREE to get in this weekend.

So if you fancy a drive out - chips and a tea from the catering and see some "relaxed" speed hillclimb action - Well it dont come much better.

V8 DJE Westie sounded pretty good.

OX - 1/4/06 at 03:35 PM

andy what time are you going up,me and my brother are going to pop up there, set off about 9ish

MikeLR - 2/4/06 at 02:06 PM

Rich and ? Ox. Did I see both your cars at Loton Park today. I was a bit damp by the time I arrived at miday. I parked up the hill on the left side about 100 yds from where you were parked.Where were you spectating ? As I was walking down the hill I saw you drive off !!
See you next Sunday.
Mike

richijenkin - 3/4/06 at 11:06 AM

Andy

JAG - 4/4/06 at 08:01 AM

Hi Guys,

it's looking like five visitors this Sunday - that's four cars.

Obviously this is all weather dependant - if the forecast is 'iffy then we may have to call it off.

Martin; do you have a mobile phone No? If you let me have it I can at least let you know if we're coming U2U me

MikeLR - 8/4/06 at 10:34 PM

Nice dry clear night up here in North Wales, is it still on for lunch time ? Whats the weather forecast ?

OX - 8/4/06 at 10:45 PM

Same here,i'll be going up

MartinDB - 9/4/06 at 09:38 AM

I'll be there for 1ish.

Martin.

Chazzy - 9/4/06 at 09:16 PM

How was it?? i was 80% going to copme over from sutton but the forecast of hail and rain put me off, we had rain nealry all afternnon from 12.30 onwards, hail, thunder and slett then SNOW, enough to cover the tin top windscreen in slush!!
did you all stay dry going home?
Chas - wishing he wasn;t a sissy southerner. (but the BTCC was good!)

MartinDB - 9/4/06 at 09:47 PM

Well, there were 4 of us but that was enough to make it worthwhile.
The South Birmingham guys got rained off and 2 of us are still building so only MikeLR was in his car.
We did get a fair bit of rain and hail too.

Just get over next month .

Martin.

JAG - 10/4/06 at 01:02 PM

As Martin says.

We got to Bridgenorth (via Clee Hill) and the weather was great. However; we stopped in Bridgenorth to take a weeee and it poured down. Rain and then hail;

when we got to Bridgenorth....
when we got to Bridgenorth....

So we retired to a local pub (called The Bear strangely!!!) and waited it out. We didn't leave until about 2pm - hence we didn't bother coming the rest of the way

And it continued to rain all the way home

There are more pictures in my archive. It was a beautiful day on top of Clee Hill - you could see for miles.

jos - 10/4/06 at 04:13 PM

The car next to you looks well weather proofed. How well did it stand up to the weather when travelling????

MikeLR - 10/4/06 at 04:29 PM

Seing the above picture I must be lucky !
Bit of hail at Whitchurch and wet roads on the way down.
OK it hailed when we were in the pub but my makeshift cover kept the inside dry.
As I turned left up the A41 the sun came out and had a nice dry sunny drive home.
Mike.

smart51 - 10/4/06 at 05:55 PM

The car started just fine. The engine is more covered that it was on the bike. I was able to make a snowball from the hail that collected on the passenger's seat, which was nice. The picture captures the scene well but it wasn't as wet as the drive home from Total Kit Car Live.

Moorron - 10/4/06 at 07:39 PM

wow great pic. i got up that morning and watched as it snowered hailed and rained. That and the fact i had to take the gerbil to the vets to be put down, very sad and at £30 not cheap. poor little bliter.

Chazzy - 10/4/06 at 08:58 PM

Hats off (metaphorically) that is the photo of a HERO!!
does the rain drip down the back of your neck??
car looks nice, like the scuttle/aeroscreens, similar driving experience to mine!
Chas
