Drive safe in this weather - or take a 4x4 cos they're much less likely to crash, unless you're name's Welderm

Unlucky Joe, not sure you wanted me to say anything and that's why you only text me, but too late now!!!!!!

How did that happen... I thought that 4 x 4's CAN'T crash in the snow / ice!

Steve Hignett - 19/12/09 at 03:31 PM

It was made even worse by:

His mate asked him for a lift to the train station, so that his wife didn't have to drive him in her car and risk crashing!

He said he was going from the road to the carpark, there was a dog walker so slowed to a crawl, turned in and then went straight on into a stone wall

Oh no, same car as mine too!!

As long as no one was hurt, cars are just bits of folded metal and can be repaired, or replaced.

blakep82 - 19/12/09 at 03:51 PM

oh dear

GMPMotorsport - 19/12/09 at 04:04 PM

I don't think it matters what you drive if you hit a patch of ice then you are usually a passenger on the way to the scene of the accident, real shame though it looks a lovely truck.

blakep82 - 19/12/09 at 04:09 PM

happened with me and snow a few years back, going down hill, slid right over the other side of the road heading striaght for a car coming the other way. lucky for me, i managed to pull up about 1ft from her car wasn't much fun

Alot of 4x4 drivers seem to think they are invincible in this weather (no offense to any on here )

I saw a woman yesterday driving a Volvo 4x4 on ice at the same speeds she would have in the dry, she tried to slow down for the corner but couldnt. She ended up understeering straight onto the kerb. Luckily, no-one was on the pavement 'cos she wouldn't have been able to do anything to avoid them!

Dangle_kt - 19/12/09 at 05:09 PM

Bad news joe. At least you never dinged one of your 32 inch rims wih spinners.

Worzey - 19/12/09 at 05:27 PM

It pays to remember that 4x4 helps you go - it's not so good at helping you stop.

locoboy - 19/12/09 at 06:06 PM

Your gonna have a fit when you find out how much that lot is to replace.

We break these at work and the small gimpy bit of plastic behind the metal tubular nudge bar is £700 new!

I dont have any front end bits left im afraid though.

McLannahan - 19/12/09 at 06:25 PM

Ahhh gutted!

Sorry to see that Joe - Between you and Pants you'll have my crashing record met!

adithorp - 19/12/09 at 08:22 PM

Ohh, nasty. Don't fret over it Joe, it's just "stuff". No lives lost.

As for 4x4s; At the end of the day you've only got 2 wheels trying to steer the car and 4 contact patches to stop it, no matter what the drive system. Big 4x4 has about double the momentum of an average saloon... do the maths!

Doh, bad luck mate....

Have to get making a few more cages to pay for the repairs

FFTS - 19/12/09 at 10:43 PM

OK... Learn a lesson everyone!!

NO MATTER what your vehicle.... NEVER EVER drive on speed!!!

Canabis is much safer

Now Joe... Ermm about those driving lessons I booked hahahaha.

ive just been up Rivington near me and it was very slippery, i wastched a van going sideways down a hill, than scrape the stone wall then spin, my daughter told me your not going down there, so we came home and made a snowman.

been back to look at the wall i hit, not a bloooooming scratch, lol. alls ok though, just my Animal hurt, will be insurance job and i can get all the little dents fixed too i hope, 22" wheels still ok.
