Exhaust Manifold

I currently looking at some locost ways of sorting my exhaust system out but still want it to look ok quality.

I seen to have four options

1. Westfield or MK new manifold ~£250, looks good but too expensive

2. An old westfield race manifold but needs collector not sure how it will exit the body work and the ease of welding a collector on>

3. This one on ebay for around £100 delivered but no sure about it, thoughts welcomed.

Zetec flanges are available and tons of places sell mandrel bends.

If your canny with the mig or have gas its very possible, just takes ages... but time is free

OR, how about a standard Focus tube type manifold cut and shut??

Summit like this?

A friend has 2 St170 manifolds, which if i'd known about earlier i'd have cut and shut myself.

Will those "ramhorn" type ones or fleabay fit with a raceline water rail?
Or how about this

manifolds arnt simply 4 random tubes bent to roughly the right length
if you have a tuned engine or even of you do not its worth either talking to a specialist or doing the math yourself to work out your primary and secondary pipe lengths and diameters to get the power you want from your engine where you want it off the shelf manifolds often restrict engines when you run them up on a dyno if you cant stretch to a custom build i would just stick with the factory manifold where this has already been done for you and match the ports it may be a mass production item but at least it is designed to give useable power and torque

save

save the pennies for a stainless one mk or westfield, but if you need to get it going use the old manifold for now

That is a very sensible approach, so much "tuning" stuff makes cars slower. I suspect the st170 manifolds are good IF you can keep the dimensions the same when altering.
Unfortuanately my car has very litited space, and a raceline water rail. My Homemade manifold works, and I got the primaries all the same length, but I have no idea how good it is. The other alternative I have got is a mondeo Duratec manifold, and it would not be too hard to swap the flanges over as the pipe spacing is VERY similar. Again diffeent engine so will not be perfect, but should be pretty good. It has similar length primaries to the one I made.
But the "ramhorn" style ones would be good in terms of space......
So does the focus one fit with the water rail??
