Bellhousing

Flogged to death this one but I've searched the archives and can't find what I'm looking for.

I have a Toyota W58 (Supra) gearbox I want to fit to the back of a Zetec engine. Popular swap down under but not used much over here....

The Toyota bell housing is about 5mm shallower than a type 9 bell housing. I was thinking about cutting the back off the Ford housing, welding a new plate on the back and making the Toyota 9 bolt pattern fit that.

Before I go down that route is there an easier combination? I don't want to buy anything from Oz or NZ as A) they expensive and B) not much for 4 the titchy 4 cylinder engines we use.

This is the box I'm sure you've all seen before. Good for 600bhp they reckon...... Rescued attachment XT BOX 2 small.JPG

I have to say that an MT75 or Type9 box would save you a world of pain, and the MT75 in particular is more than adequate for the kind of power you can reliably extract from a Zetec unless you are getting very serious with tuning it.

Well, its only as I have that box lying around and I want to push a zetec turbo through it....

May abandon the whole exercise and get a Rover turbo engine and Landrover box.. another can of worms!

I'm itching for the next PPC which is going to have an engine to box list in it

Adaptor plate? If you want a cast bell housing for a type 9 I have one I keep tripping up over but you would have to collect.
