mounting duratec V6 longditundinally

Hi,

I am mounting my V6 in the saab longditundinally with a transaxle behind. Have been looking for point to use as mountings on the sides. On the back for the engine, or its left has a suitable mounting. But on the other side the only mounting points are the mounting studs for the alternator mounting. Would these have another strength to support the engine? I guess i can mount the alternator elsewhere. What have other people used as a mounting point?

many thanks

The front (in your case) is supported by a bracket from between the V - there is a heavy cast bracket just above it too.

The other end is supported from the gearbox near the gear change turret - I used an L shape attaching it to the M10 (or was it M12?) cushioning the whole lot on a couple of Landy V8 bobbins.

There is also a rotation limiter at the bottom which keeps everything steady under load.

I will try and get some pics if you like.

ooh i had forgotton that the orginal engine mount would be on the front. I could easily make up a mounting that ran across the car for it. Though i think i would have probs getting the engine in as that mounting would be in the way so would have to make it removable.

will have to make a mounting that runs across the car at the right height for the front mounting, the gearbox mounting will have to different as i am going to be using a audi transaxle, which will have its own mounts. At least i won't need to use the alternator mounting.
