CVH Sump Chopping??
searching didnt reaveal what i needed so i thought i would put a post on
does a CVH Sump need chopping to fit the engine in rons "book" chassis?
that is without having a buldge in the bonnet
Cheers
Matt

We chopped down a cvh sump (1600) and made a winged, baffled pan from it. Fairly easy task.
Ill trawl through my pics to see if i have any of it. However, we have got a slight buldge in the bonnet even with a low line rocker cover, although
nothing hangs below the lower chassis rails.

Probably about 2.5", cant really remember tbh. You could probably take a bit more off. We have managed to keep the about same volume as the
original pan.

I took about 50mm out of my 1.8 sump to fit in my Indy.

nothing needed off mine fitted to a Dax Rush.Plenty of clearance underneath and the bonnet just touched the oil filler cap

i cut off about 30mm of mine and added wings and baffels mainly for ground clearance and oil surge as on the 1600 front wheel drive sump the bowl and
oil pick up is at the front. the is a 'how to' somewhere on a sylva web site if of use got lots of pics and link can find tonight.

Yes!
To get a 1.8 cvh in book chassis is very tight , I cut my sump to be level with the bellhousing at the back and approx 4 " deep at the front and
then angled the engine down slightly.
But you can make life easier by using a taller nosecone , i.e. not a Caterham one.
