Gearbox bell housing clearance!

Need some advice on the minimum clearance I can have between the greabox bell housing and the chassis. Basically it is the amount the engine will move backwards. I am using std engine moount rubbers and the westfield stiff gearbox mounting. I currently have about 8mm clearance

That should be fine, as long as those brake pipes aren't in the gap!

I have just over 5mm gap on my car - never knocked the chassis, even though I have the std Sierra mount.

Fit Land-Rover engine mounting rubbers in place of the ford parts -- stiffer but more or less interchangeable but may need packing plates because they are thinner.
