Late Rover V8 Questions - anyone Know?

Hi,

Does anyone out there know where to fit oil pressure and oil temp gauge senders on a late Rover V8 - the one with the internal oil pump.
There are 3 plugs near the oil filter.
Ok to use these?
Isn't one the relief valve?

Also how do I plumb the water pipes in when I don't have a heater (no outlets on the water pump)???

Any help please guys?

Cheers

You can clearly see where the oil pressure switch and pressure relief valves are so I don't know if that helps as to where to fit the oil temp sender?

I am not sure hwat you are asking about the plumbing. Are you asking how to plumb in a heater or how to bypass the heater pipes?

Regards

Mark

There is no replacement for displacement...

Hi,
Excellent! Thanks for the picture!

I think that replacing 35 oil presssure switch, with my own gear might be the way forward.
Anyone know the thread size?

As for the pipes, perhaps I'm being thick!
I'm used to working with the earlier water pumps which have the 2 pipes coming out the top.
My engine doesn't have them so where is the heater plumbed in from/to?

Someone on another site suggested 'T'-pieces in the main top and bottom hoses?

Sorry, not sure that's any clearer!

Cheers

Martin

Hi there

If you tee into the top and bottom hoses for the heater you'll get no heat until the thermostat opens.

Somewhere on the inlet manifold there should be a bypass outlet for the thermostat housing and maybe also an outlet tail on the back of the manifold. You could feed a heater from one of these, with the return to the bottom hose.

I have the opposite problem, I'm not running a heater and have had to block one of the ports on the back of the water pump and the thermostat bypass, and loop the tail outlet on the manifold back to the remaining water pump port through the valley.......

Best of luck
Simon

Ok,
Thanks Simon.

Plan;-

1)Block off bypass at front.
2)Connect outlet at back of manifold to 'T' piece in bottom hose.
(I'm not using a heater)

Problem solved?
Any comments/advice on this?

Thanks again.

Martin
