some exhaust progress

finally got the two 45deg I ordered from OJZ I needed to finish the primary manifold to the merge collector.

a few more tweaks needed to get the line-up improved.. but very pleased for 30mins fiddling.. Rescued attachment mock-up mani.jpg

what I might do is, now that the tubes are roughly in the right area, I might take the collector off, and using smaller straight sections to joint the primary tubes where they are atm to the collector in a clean staight line.. means a bit of welding, but I love it. fingers crossed it comes out ok.

So far what you see has cost about £120

looks good.

's hard to tell from the photo but how much clearance you have between the primaries and the chassis rails? The engine is going to move a bit so allow about 20-30 mm.

clearance is just over 1" the engine mounts are quite firm, so its not going to jiggle around too much, unfortunately I'm going to wrap them all up to get those gasses flowing... so it will be all hidden away..

I've got to 'glue' a catalytic converter on the end of the collector, that wrap will go all the way to end of the cat..

-emissions paranoid..

you can see the straight sections of tube I've welded on to make the parallel ends for the slip-on collector.. worked a treat.

Next I've got to find some tabs I can use for the spring loading..

Has anyone used spring loaded exhausts with heat wrap..? I'm not sure If I should leave a gap in the heat wrap where the spring is, or cover the springs under the heat wrap, but then I'm thinking the springs will get knackered with the heat possibly.?
