clutch PITA

Hi all, Was out in the car yesterday, it was a lovely sunny day, all was well when the gear change started to get clunkythen after a blast down the dual carriageway the clutch went completly. Having just opened it up to see the problem it's a repeat of an orignal fault i found in that the clutch pivot lever had warn away, i had replaced the lever and that had fixed it, but this one has only lasted 120 miles, so the question is is this a known problem with zx clutches? if so is there an upgrade / mod for it? it will be a real PITA if this keeps happening any comments / advice? ATB Roger

Does this engine have a pushrod, if so it would seem that the rod is spinning and wearing the arm at its alarming rate, is there a bearing in the cover plate that is siezed and causing the problem, the old way was to have a 2 piece push rod with a ball bearing in the middle to act as friction reducer. Hope my waffle is of some help

Do you have a "stop" on the clutch pedal ?

If not are you pushing the pedal to far causing the problem ?

Remember the clutch is designed to be operated by one/two fingers, your using the strongest muscles in your body to operate it.

Thanks for the replies' to answer the lever pulls on the clutch center lift shaft and the bearings in the cover are ok. jon, i haven't got a stop i hadn't thought of that as the clutch actuates about half way down, but you may have something there so i'll investigate that, cheers Roger

I set the stop just enough to release the clutch and no more, I also fit a stop on the throttle too to prevent stretching the cable.
