does anyone know if it is possible to fit a bmw 6 cylinder in a seven chassis

And a bit long. Do they not lean over as well?
I'm sure there's a few on here toying with the idea of the 4 cyl BMW lumps

they lean over at 30 degrees. I believe they are all ali but i dont know what they weigh.
Its just a thought

I wondered how long it would be before you asked this! Having looked at a mates 318, the engine doesn't seem to lean over as much as 30 degrees,
but I've not had a look at his dad's 6 cylinder yet. The main issue would be getting a steering column to sensibly fit, but a good dog leg
should sort that out. As long as the exhaust can be routed out the way, as it would normally point straight at the coloumn/extension.

but marlin made a cabrio with the BMW straight 6. Think Javalin now sells these cars, its all BMW. Not sure which BMW they use. That engine didnt seem
to lean over much at all.

Could they be dry sumped and stood up by a fair bit? Or just use their V8?
Oh, google say 138 kgs for the 4 cylinder engine, but doesn't say how dressed that is.

A quick thought about the straight 6, since Epona has a longer nose than a normal 7, why not extend the front of the chassis to accomodate the longer
engine? Could use the whole beemer as a donor that way, if you so wished.

That engine looks different from the current ones, and appears to stand more upright. Any idea where it came from?

that looks like a e30 325i engine,the earlier ones had more of a square shaped plenium,plenty power and torque, would be a good engine if it fitted..

Ah, that the single cam jobbie then? Might be a better bet than the newer twin cam versions then as the exhaust should be a bit easier due to being
more central.

a jag straight 6 was fitted to a viento so it is do-able with a larger chassis.

If you want to know more, why not go over to the haynes forum and ask Chris about it - I'm sure he'd be very helpful.
The picture I posted seems to use an old (early '80s) engine. I have no more info on the car, it's just a picture I found a while ago.

BMW LUMP
I am not sure where i got the 30 degrees from, i was probley thinking of the e30 and got confussed.
I dont have a problem with modding a chassis, as long as the body can still fit on a standard one.
The reason that i thought of it is, its a nice looking, powerful engine, there would be no need to tune it and there are loads of them about fairly
cheap.
I have a silly long bonnet and to be honnest a zetec looks a bit lost under there.
I will have to find one to look at when i am back down south and compair it to dads chassis.
I will give chris a shout.

Just found that the 1996 328 (m52) weighs in at 170kg, so not too much more then the 4 pot
