guess it will be then the one of the manta!!

the manta was rear wheel driven!

i would guess its a Getrag 5 speed from a manta or carlton

RWD OHC Mantas used a 5 speed Getrag something or other. Lots of info about Opels here.

next question then is .what engine options do i have that will fit that gearbox

Vauxhall XE? I doubt the box is man enough to handle the poke of an XE though.

vauxhall xe, vauxhall ecotec, vauxhall 1.6 and v6 engines I believe all share the same bellhousing pattern, the problem will be the amount of power (or rather torque) the box can cope with before it falls to bits. They are not known to last that long behind an xe so the v6 is definately out. The 1.6 or ecotec would prob be ok.

im using this very combination. getrag 240 gearbox from the opel mata 1.8

wil fit for sure (at least)

ecotec, XE, daewoo d-tech 2lt (same as ecotec)
