Pinto engine position
I have a book chassis and a 1.6 pinto engine i will be making mounts using 50x50 box section and land rover rubbers.
what is the best position for the mounts and do they have to be of equal length? any diagrams size's or pictures would be a grate help.

Heres where my engine sits with standard GTS pinto mounts.
The chopped sump/bellhousing is 1" below the bottom of the chassis.
The release arm housing clears the drivers bulkhead by about 20mm.
 
I have seen engines further back than this, and further forward. You really do need to check that the cam pulley isnt going to stick out of the nose
cone though! Mine is only about 5mm clear inside....

From the back of my bell housing to the start of the transmission tunnel is 25mm
My only word of warning is that if you don’t mount the engine high enough in the engine bay, any twin dcoe's will foul on the top chassis rail
when you put air filters on.
There is a picture in my archive which shows how my air filters exit.

Mine's well back in the chassis and the sump is unmodified but causes no problems and there are plenty of speedbumps round here to test it on.
Mine's a book chassis built at home.

Pete, do you have any pics of your mounts or sizes.How far does the sump hang down just thought it would have to be shortened.
