SPOTTED! Me! Broken Down!

This is my Locost sat on the central res of Bristol Ring Road. On my way back from a minor fail at SVA retest and manged to blow my engine!

I now have some really effective crankcase ventilation, but not such good oil retention!

Will Post pics of the bits once i strip it down.

Anyopne got a 1600cc pinto the want to sell to me? PLEASE!

Strikes me as a rather good time to fit a 2.0!

Good luck with the fix and then SVA.

Cheers,
James

That's really bad news!

At least you're reasonably relaxed about it...

What was the minor fail? Will a new engine fix it?

David

beleve me mate everypart of me is in agreement with you.

But my wallet isn't! my insurance is a stinger anyway.

Plus, if (and when) i do a 2.0 i am going to do a full bench top rebuild, whereas i am looking to get a half decent 1600 that i can just drop in. Wnat to get passed asap.

Cheers for the good wishes mate

Sorry to hear about your engine. Must suck, being so close to being road legal and all.

Anyway, you could try the scrapyard down at Ashton Gate which had a couple of sierras there last time I looked. I will dig their number out for you want. However, you will probably need to remove the engine yourself :-(

minor fail was that my brakes were staying partially on. Think i need to restrip my m/cylinder and perhaps replace rear wheel cylinders as one seems to have siezed.

Did actually pass the brake test then the inspector drove it off the rollers and the brakes stuck! was so close to a pass its painful. only thing left to do was self-centering, and i know that works!

Ooh a local!!!!

think i know the one you mean, but number would be really useful. If you know the name or street name that would be cool too.

Any thoughts on putting a pinto in the boot of my work's focus? got to take that surely?

(Focus estate that is)

Just remembered the name:

R S PERRY & CO.
The Yard, Off Ashton Road, Bristol, Avon BS3 2EA
Tel: 0117 9639550

The guy down there is a little strange and the geese he keeps on site are a menace , but you can get a bargain if you haggle.

As for putting the engine in the back of a work focus. Well, I had a dohc engine on a pallet, MT75 gearbox and a diff in the back of a vectra estate once. Course, with it being a vectra I wasn't too worried about getting oil all over it!

Also, if you don't get any luck with R.S. Perry there is a scrappy in Southmead "AA Car spares" Tel: 01179591958 who can usually get hold of sierra parts.

art least I made it home from my SVA, just - lost a bolt from the carb that made it idle a 2,000 rpm and the drivers side wing stay came loose ... but hang, on, this is the reterst - *gulp* sitll yet to do mine so shouldn't feel too smug.

Any thoughts as to why the engine went?

bad luck mate!

You will get a Pinto in the back of a focus estate no problem (I got an engine/box in the back of a Leon pretty easy) but you'll need a crane of some hefty mates to get it in and out

Bad luck
I fitted a 1.8 MX5 lump into the back of my Focus hatch with no problems!

Ahh A scrappy with a Real burglar Alarm. Geese make wonderful alarms, and their bite can be a bit nasty if they get the soft bits at the back of the leg.
